Unlike previous weeks within the season, there were not quite as many offensive options for my player of the week choice. In fact, I narrowed it down to two people and one unit. Alvin Kamara, Demario Davis, and the defense stood out to me and all deserve recognition. The defense held the Giants in check all day. Odell Beckham Jr. was mostly held to minimums, and though he contributed a score, Sterling Shepherd did not have Calvin Ridley type output opposite his team’s clear-cut No. 1 receiver. Eli Manning completed about 75% of his passes, but the big explosive plays from the previous weeks were absent and as a group, the defense stepped up to the challenge on the road. There was even a turnover involved (forced fumble and fumble recovery), a welcomed sight for this year’s Saints.Our weekly Alvin Kamara entry comes as no surprise, as the silky smooth glider contributed 5 catches for 47 yards and 134 rushing yards on 19 carries and 3 touchdowns on the ground. Also credit #AK41 for slamming the door on the Giants right after they’d scored to make it a one score game. On a day when Michael Thomas and Drew Brees were not at their normal levels of awesome, Kamara took control by being a reliable threat in the ground and passing game. Like most opponents, the Giants had no answer for Kamara.This week belonged to the defense Limited Taysom Hill Jersey , and Demario Davis provided his statement game to the Who Dat Nation in Week 4. Davis was all over the field for the Saints, making 9 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and 2 sacks (tallied as 2 tackles for loss as well). For a player who averages about 2.5 sacks per season, a 2-sack day is near historic. In a game where he finally appeared comfortable in the Saints defensive scheme, DD was just what the doctor ordered as he was active in run stops and comfortable in coverage. Credit some creativity on the part of defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to scheme pressure and allow Davis to get home twice. It would be nice to see more of this type of pressure going forward. In a quality performance by the entire defense, Davis stood out as the best of the unit,It is an amazing feeling to be able to highlight a defensive player and the defense as a whole. In what can largely be considered a team win, heading into a prime time matchup with the Washington Redskins with some confidence and momentum defensively will be huge. Finding ways to use Davis’ strengths will also pay off for the Saints, and the hope is that Week 4 was his arrival as a force for the black and gold.As always, Thanks for reading, Be Cool Who Dats! The star running back also caught three passes for 33 yards.Stafford was 20 of 33 yards for 245 yards with an 11-yard touchdown pass to tackle Taylor Decker, who faked the Rams out by blocking for a moment before releasing into the flat where he was left wide open. Decker's touchdown pulled Detroit within three points late in the third quarter.The Lions had a chance to cut its deficit to three again late in the game, but Kenny Golladay couldn't get both feet in the end zone on a pass from Stafford and they had settle for Matt Prater's third field goal.SAVVY MOVEGurley converted a third down late in the game, and after breaking free, he chose not to score to run more time off the clock and force Detroit to take timeouts. It proved a good move because Gurley ran for a 2-yard score with 1:54 left and the Lions were left with no timeouts on their final drive. That ended with Troy Hill intercepting a pass in the end zone with 12 seconds left."I wanted to waste some time," Gurley said.SUH OR BOO?Rams defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh played against Detroit for the first time and made six tackles."I got a warm welcome back," he said.Detroit drafted Suh No. 2 overall eight years ago and he left for Miami as a free agent in 2015.
